The Tree House Golf Club is based out of Simi Valley, California. Our goal is simple. Just have fun with one of the greatest games on earth, golf. We get together one Saturday a month and have a good time. Afterwards, come by the new Yankee Doodles in Simi Valley for a cold drink and some great food. $55 for active membership renewal
$65 for inactive renewal (inactive is defined as any member that has not
participated in three events)
$15 late fee is application is not in by November 30th.
Article I NAME
The name of the organization shall be: THE TREE HOUSE GOLF CLUB
Article II CLUB PURPOSES
B. To promote and foster among its members a closer bond and fraternity for their joint and mutual benefit.
C. To promote and conserve the best interests and true spirits of the game of golf as embodied in its ancient and honorable traditions.
D. To enforce uniformity in the rules of the game by creating a representative authority.
E. To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the regulations of the Southern California Golf Association.
F. To afford a convenient and authoritative body to govern tournaments and other golfing events.
G. To provide a framework in which golfing and/or social events and excursions may be organized as desired by the members through the board of directors.
Article III MEMBERSHIP
A. Active membership shall be limited to members twenty-one years and older who have applied for membership and been accepted by the SCGA and the Board of Directors in accordance with these By-Laws.
B. The Board of Directors may confer yearly honorary memberships upon those whom they feel have contributed to the advancement of golf. The unanimous affirmative vote of the Board shall be required to approve such action.
C. All membership dues shall be due and payable on or before December 1st for the following year. The Board of Directors, from time to time, shall establish dues in such amounts as they deem to be adequate to operate and maintain the club. Current dues schedule is: New Member $65, Renewal before November 30th $55, Reinstatement after November 30th $70.
D. In the event any member of the organization shall commit any act that reflects discredit on the organization or refuse or neglect to comply with the rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Directors, such member shall be subject to suspension or expulsion after ten days notice. Said member has the right to be heard by the Board of Directors at a regular Board meeting or a special Board meeting called for such a purpose. A Board of Directors majority vote shall determine the outcome.
E. Membership rolls will be reviewed no later than every November to determine qualifications to retain membership for the coming year. A major goal of the club is to maintain a limited number of (130) active members. “Active membership” is herein defined as participating in at least three (3) club-sponsored tournaments per year. Failure to comply with the participation requirement will be grounds for dismissal form the club at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Any member dismissed under this ruling will have the privilege to appeal to the Board and will be entitled to a refund of dues paid for the coming year if the Board denies the appeal.
F. The annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the year-end awards ceremony, nominally the first Saturday in December. The Board of Directors shall provide for the holding of such other meetings as may be deemed necessary or desirable, and they shall call special meetings upon written petition signed by not less than ten percent of the membership.
G. A legal quorum at any meeting shall be twenty-five percent members present in person or by proxy. Each active member in good standing shall be entitled to one vote.
ARTICLE IV BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A. The Board of Directors shall consist of six members in good standing voted into office by the general membership. The proprietor/representative of "The Tree House Sports Bar & Grille," shall be invited to be present at any meetings. The Board of Directors shall exercise all powers of the management of the Golf Club not specifically excepted by these By-Laws.
B. The current Board of Directors will poll the general membership to determine those willing to have their names submitted for nomination and shall post at the Tree House and/or mail said list to all members at least one week prior to election. In addition, any member may submit his own, or another member’s name for nomination and inclusion on the ballot up until the actual election takes place.
C. The election of the Board of Directors shall be by written ballot of the general membership. The six names receiving the greatest number of votes shall be elected.
D. The Board of Directors shall meet at least quarterly at such places as they may select. A majority of the Board will constitute a quorum at any meeting.
E. In the case of any vacancy through death, resignation, disqualification, or other cause, the remaining directors, even though less than a quorum, may elect a successor by a majority vote to hold office for the remainder of the vacant directors term, and until the regular election.
ARTICLE V OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES
A. Within ten days time after the annual meeting and election, the new Board of Directors shall meet and elect the officers.
B. The officers shall consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Handicap Chairman, and Tournament Chairman, and their duties shall be such as their title would indicate or such as may be assigned to them respectively from time to time.
C. The Board of Directors shall authorize and define the powers and duties of all committees. The president, who shall be an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee, shall appoint chairman and members of all committees.
ARTICLE VI AMENDMENTS TO BY-LAWS
A. The Board of Directors shall have the power to repeal or amend any of these By-Laws provided that such action shall not be effective until approved by a majority vote of the members at a meeting held in accordance with the provisions contained herein.
ARTICLE VII POLICIES
B. The following policies have been established by the Board to date:
1. Our club is a reciprocal club and shall permit bona fide, paid up SCGA members of any other club the courtesy of playing as a guest in our tournaments, subject to the fourteen-day restriction of policy 3 below.
2. Guests will be allowed to play, but not compete for club points or awards, providing our tournament player limit is not filled.
3. Signup priorities are given as follows:
a) Up to fourteen days before posted cut-off date for signups, signed up and paid up members of the TREE HOUSE GOLF CLUB only.
b) During the fourteen-day pre-cutoff period, signed up, paid up SCGA member guests have first preference. Then signed up paid up unsanctioned guests.
